(#146) NO WAR:
|
War. What a colossal waste of time and money. War is the organized aggression of one governmental entity against another for the benefit of those entities and not the individuals in them. War is very, very expensive. We finally paid off the American Civil War (1861-1865) in 1972, and that only covered the winning side's debts. Not to mention the something on the order of two or three million Confederate and Union citizens killed. What do you think this century of non-stop, full-scale war has cost? What has it cost to maintain the illusion of industrial productivity created by unremitting global warfare? World War One (1914-1918), World War Two (1938-1945), the Korean Police Action (1951-1953), The Cold War (1945-1989), The Vietnam Conflict (1954-1975) not to mention the myriad brush-fire pissing-contests we've gotten into on a regular basis sticking our noses into other people's business. What do you think this all cost? Nobody will ever know. The only thing for sure is, now we're dead broke. Sorry kids, we spent your college money on killing Vietnamese. |
